Get to Know Your Sewing Machine

One-to-One Beginner Sewing Session

If you have a sewing machine but feel unsure how to use it – or if it has been sitting unused because you don’t know where to start – this relaxed, practical one-to-one session is designed to help you feel confident and comfortable.

By the end you’ll use your machine confidently and finally start the clothes and home projects you’ve been dreaming about.

During the session

Understanding your sewing machine and its settings
Threading, tension, and stitch selection
Basic sewing techniques and good habits
Troubleshooting common problems
Bring your own machine or use one provided

Beginner Cushion Making

Zip Fastening Cushion – half-day 1:1

3-4 hours £65 1:1

Make a professional-looking zip cushion from scratch, end to end. By the end you’ll know how to measure and cut fabric properly, thread and use a machine with confidence, insert a zip with a zip foot, sew neat corners, and turn out and press a polished finish.

You’ll leave with a finished cushion you made yourself.

Beginner Zipper Pouch

Lined pouch with zip – half-day 1:1

3-4 hours £65 1:1

A lined zipper pouch – the natural next step after a cushion, or a great standalone make. You’ll learn to measure and cut accurately, insert a zip using the sandwich method, construct and attach a lining, turn out through a gap and slip-stitch closed, then press to a properly professional finish.

You bring: outer and lining fabric, plus one 20-22cm zip
